Carolyn Patton, CFA joined TIFF in 2022 and serves as Managing Director, Head of Private Market Client Solutions. She has worked with institutional clients and consultants over her 25+ year career, managing relationships across the globe.
Prior to joining TIFF, Carolyn represented boutique firm, Sustainable Growth Advisers, based in Connecticut. She has worked at some of the leading investment management firms in the industry including Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Janus Capital Group, Turner Investments, and Deutsche Asset Management, in senior strategy and distribution roles. Carolyn has lived and worked in London, England, Denver, Colorado, and currently resides in Radnor, PA. Carolyn served as President of the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives (AIMSE) where, in partnership with the TOIGO Foundation, she helped spearhead the creation of the AIMSE Scholarship program to promote diversity and inclusion within the asset management industry. She brings a broad perspective of investment markets and an understanding of the differing needs of institutional clients.
Carolyn is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The University of Virginia.

Nicholas Lam joined TIFF in 2022 as an Associate in the Private Markets group, working across the firm’s primary fund commitments and PE direct investment opportunities.
Nicholas graduated from Bowdoin College, double majoring in Economics and Government/Legal Studies. He is an active volunteer at the Jimmy Fund and Mid Coast Hunger Prevention.
Zhe joined TIFF in 2021 and serves as Managing Director of the Diversifying Strategies group. Zhe is responsible for evaluating and selecting a global portfolio of specialist managers investing in niche markets who have a competitive edge in their space. He and the team source investment ideas across numerous asset classes and implement an evidence-based investment approach.
Prior to joining TIFF, Zhe worked on the sell-side first covering Aerospace & Defense at Goldman Sachs then Software & Business Services at AllianceBernstein before becoming a Portfolio Manager of alternatives and long/short equity at Portland House Partners.
Zhe holds a BS in Finance, Investment, and Banking from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a double major in Economics and is a CFA® charterholder. Zhe also serves as a member of TIFF’s Investment Committee.
Julia Zhan joined TIFF in 2021 and serves as Director, Investments and Head of Sustainability. She performs sourcing, investment research, and manager selection across marketable equity-oriented assets, with the additional focus of portfolio management for sustainable investments. She chairs TIFF’s Corporate Responsibility Committee and is a member of the ESG Committee and DEI Committee.
Previously, Julia worked at Marsoft Inc. in areas including distressed debt, impact investments, banking decarbonization, and voluntary carbon credit markets.
She graduated from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics with a BA in Finance, summa cum laude and valedictorian, and from Boston College with an MS in Finance, Dean Scholarship. She holds the FSA Credential.
Kane Brenan has served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TIFF Investment Management since 2020. In this role, he leads the firm in fulfilling its mission to be the best OCIO to the nonprofit community. Building on TIFF’s three-decade legacy, he brings best practice to investment management and advisory to help clients achieve their individual investment and organizational objectives in an increasingly challenging landscape.
Prior to joining TIFF, Kane spent more than 20 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as Partner, Global Head and co-CIO of the Global Solutions Portfolio Group, working closely with large endowment and pension clients in an OCIO capacity. Prior to this role, Kane was a Managing Director, helping to manage Goldman’s secondary private equity investment platform. Previously, Kane was a corporate M&A lawyer at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
Kane is also active in support of nonprofits outside of his work at TIFF, including serving on the boards of Beyond Celiac, Bryn Mawr Hospital Foundation, and Holy Child School at Rosemont.
He earned his BA from Boston College and his JD/MBA from Georgetown University and currently holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses. Kane is also a member of TIFF’s Investment Committee and the TIFF Advisory Services (TAS) Board.
