Oliver Bardon joined TIFF in 2017 and serves as Managing Director, Head of Portfolio Construction and Risk, focusing on risk management and portfolio construction across the firm’s investment solutions. In this role he is tasked with combining TIFF’s best equity and diversifying strategies with risk-managing fixed income and hedging positions to create portfolios tailored to meet the risk, return and liquidity profiles suited to each individual TIFF client. He is a member of TIFF’s Investment Committee.
Prior to joining TIFF, Oliver served as a portfolio manager and as Head of Quantitative Analysis and Risk Management at Cambridge Place Investment Management. His responsibilities included assessing risk and managing hedging positions for portfolios of asset-backed securities. Oliver has also worked at Bracebridge Capital, where he analyzed structured finance and other fixed income investments, and at The Boston Consulting Group, where he was a manager in the financial services practice.
Oliver began his career as a physicist, conducting research at the US Department of Energy’s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, as well as at the Institute of High Energy Physics in Beijing.
With a BA in physics from the University of Virginia and a doctorate in Experimental Particle Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Oliver’s combination of expertise in investment management and physics gives him a highly analytical perspective on investing. He volunteers his time as a director of the Brookline High School Innovation Fund, where he serves on the Finance Committee.
