Transformational Change at Non-Profits
Mallory Dennis, an Executive Director in the Client CIO group, sat down with two TIFF clients: Suki O’Kane, Administrator of the Walter & Elise Haas Fund, and James Glenn, Director of Investment Operations of the Spelman College.
Both shared their experiences of TIFF as a strategic partner, beyond just an investment manager. Suki emphasized the importance of maintaining corpus and multi-generational operations. She highlighted how TIFF’s Strategic Asset Allocation work has instilled confidence in her Board, allowing them to continue to make larger grants over longer periods of time to their community. In fact, Suki noted they recently had been able to grant above their mandated minimum, thanks to TIFF’s support.
James spoke to TIFF’s partnership in re-envisioning Spelman College’s Investment Policy Statement (IPS) to better align with the institution’s goal to represent the community they serve. In addition, James believes TIFF’s investment team has been key in bringing this IPS to life, particularly through their partnership in manager sourcing, selection, and ongoing support.
Both Suki and James advised other non-profits to set big visions and embrace open communication to achieve them. Their insights underscore the importance of strong partnerships in navigating the complex world of investments while making a meaningful impact.
